About Me

David Lanchester

I have been a book dealer for a number of years now since my retirement from the jewellery trade in 2003. In fact book-selling occurred by accident as I had to thin out my collection to make room at home. Not my idea!

A known 'face' at wargame conventions, Militaria fairs and re-enactment shows all over the UK. A wargamer since the early 60's, with an interest in all periods but chiefly Medieval and the American Civil War. Nowadays I help run The Lance and Longbow Society from my base near the battlefield of Towton here in North Yorkshire. I'm also a member of several societies, the Society of Ancients, Pike and Shot Society, The Battlefields Trust, Richard III Foundation, Inc., and recently I have been co-opted on to the Committee of the Towton Battlefield Society.

In my spare time (there is not much of that, I have to be honest) I love to watch football, I'm a life-long supporter of Tottenham Hotspur. Although I was born in the east end of London, my formative years were spent a short distance from White Hart Lane. Also cricket, a Surrey supporter from my teens plus I worked near the Oval in the 60's. I've also been seen reading a book or three!
